Robert O. Burgess, known as “Doc” in our area, will be presenting an overview of his novel, “Amy's Gold”. There will be a book sale and a signing after the program.
Amy's Gold is a novel set during the time when the Transcontinental Railroad struggled toward completion across 8,000 miles of primitive wasteland known as the Red Desert. Amy Stafford, the key character in this novel, is a heroine for all ages. David L. Roberts, Editor, The Medicine Bow Post wrote; “Amy's Gold is a wealth of a western; it is rich in epic adventure with an exciting fictional story and accurate historical detail. It's a great book filled with action, romance, colorful characters, and mystery!”
Robert O. Burgess was born in Missouri in 1934. He attended Colorado State College of Education, and the University of Wyoming, received his Bachelor of Science degree and then his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Oregon in 1964. He served four years as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy, the last two years with the Marine Corps in Okinawa. Doc practiced medicine in Laramie, Wyoming for over 20 years and is now retired and resides in Ault.
